Although our office is located in Fort Payne, Alabama, we at Fireplace Service Company serve communities all across Northeastern Alabama, Northwestern Georgia, and South Central Tennessee. We provide the best comprehensive fireplace and chimney services as well as grill and barbecue sales and dryer vent cleaning to customers in cities and towns throughout this area. One city we are proud to include in our service area is Huntsville, Alabama. The county seat of Madison County and the fourth-largest city in Alabama, Huntsville boasts a population of 186,254 inhabitants. Located at the foot of a mountain in North Alabama, Huntsville is a high-tech city with attractions that reflect its heritage of being Alabama’s first English-speaking city, the strife of the American Civil War, and the accomplishments of our country’s rocket scientists. We would like to tell you a bit more about the most popular attractions Huntsville has to offer.

Operated by the government of Alabama, the U.S. Space and Rocket Center opened its doors in 1970 as a tribute to the work of Dr. Wernher von Braun who came to NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville in 1950 to develop the rockets that sent the first U.S. satellite into space and sent men to the moon. At this museum, you can learn about these rockets as well as the Space Shuttle, the International Space Station, and the Space Launch System. Home to Space Camp, Aviation Challenge Camp, and Robotics Camp, the U.S. Space and Rocket Center showcases the past, present, and future of human spaceflight. Astronaut John Glenn has called Rocket Park at the center “the finest rocket collection in the world.” Featuring 27 missiles and rockets, Rocket Park shows you how Army rocketry launched America’s space program. Shuttle Park allows you to see the chronology of launch vehicles in the country, and you can enjoy watching films about the space program in three different theaters, including the IMAX Spacedome.

If plants and flowers are more to your liking than space shuttles and rockets, you will truly enjoy visiting the Huntsville Botanical Garden. Offering year-round botanical displays, educational programs for adults and children, and specialized research, the Garden blends traditional botanical garden elements with the heritage of the region and the conservation of natural resources. You will find gardens growing perennials, bulbs and annuals, vegetables, and herbs. The Nature Center at the Garden overlooks Little Smith Lake and is home to butterflies, frogs, birds, turtles, and other creatures.
